Med school interview questions you should be ready to answer.
To prep for interviews I compiled a list of as many interview questions as I could into a word doc and wrote down the “key points” I could answer for each question. I didn’t want to memorize my answers, but I wanted to have a general idea of what I would say for each question.
Preparing my answers helped me feel more confident, but I still ended up speaking from my heart during my interviews rather than trying to “recall” my bullet points.
Be able to answer these questions:
– Why do you want to be a physician?
– Tell me about yourself.
– Why would YOU be a good physician?
– What are your opinions on the state of our current healthcare system?
– What are your greatest strengthens and weaknesses?
– What are your goals within medicine?
– Why do you want to attend our program?
– What is your “backup plan?”
– How do you manage stress?
– What is your first choice medical school?
– If your applying DO, WHY do you want to be a DO?
– Know your position on different ethical dilemmas within medicine.
– And be able to speak about EVERYTHING on your resume! Be prepared to describe your clinical/research/volunteer/leadership experiences.
I was asked variations of most of the above questions during my interviews.
Feel free to copy and paste these questions into a doc and prepare your own answers! I’ll be cheering for you!
